What are Lampstand candles made from?

Every Lampstand candle is thoughtfully hand-poured in New Mexico using 100% soy wax, premium cotton wicks, and phthalate-free fragrance oils. Our candles are made in small batches, creating a clean-burning candle designed to be enjoyed long after the final burn.

What does "phthalate-free" mean?

Phthalates are a group of chemicals that have been used in a variety of consumer products, including some plastics, packaging, and fragrances. Scientific research has linked certain phthalates to hormone disruption and potential effects on reproductive health, child development, and other body systems, particularly with repeated exposure. Because of these concerns, many countries have restricted the use of several phthalates in products intended for children and other high-risk applications, and manufacturers have increasingly moved toward safer alternatives.

At Lampstand Candle Co., we use phthalate-free fragrance oils because we believe the products you bring into your home should be thoughtfully chosen. We strive to create candles you can feel good about enjoying.

Why soy wax?

We chose soy wax because it burns cleanly, lasts longer than many traditional waxes, and is made from a renewable resource. When cared for properly, soy candles produce an even, beautiful burn while allowing each fragrance to shine.

At Lampstand Candle Co., we use 100% soy wax because it provides a clean, beautiful burn while supporting our commitment to thoughtful craftsmanship.

Unlike paraffin wax, which is derived from petroleum, soy wax is made from soybeans—a renewable, plant-based resource. When paired with a properly trimmed cotton wick and burned according to our care instructions, soy wax generally produces significantly less soot than paraffin candles.

Soy wax also burns more slowly than many traditional waxes, allowing you to enjoy your candle longer while providing an excellent fragrance experience.

How long do your candles burn?

Our candles are designed to provide a slow, even burn when properly cared for.

• 5 oz Candle: Approximately 25–35 hours
• 7 oz Candle: Approximately 40–50 hours

Burn time may vary depending on your environment and candle care. For the best experience, trim the wick to ¼ inch before each burn and allow the wax to melt completely to the edges of the vessel during the first few burns.

Why does my candle look or melt unevenly?

Because our candles are made with 100% soy wax, you may notice slight variations in the appearance of the wax as your candle burns. Soy wax is a natural material and can sometimes melt unevenly, develop a slightly textured or bumpy surface, or appear different after it cools and resets.

These variations are a normal characteristic of soy wax and do not affect the quality, fragrance, or performance of your candle. In fact, they're simply part of working with a natural wax rather than additives designed to create a perfectly uniform appearance.

For the best burn, we recommend trimming your wick to approximately ¼ inch before each use and allowing the melt pool to reach close to the edges of the vessel, particularly during the first burn. Avoid burning your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.

Each Lampstand Candle Co candle is hand-poured in small batches, so a little natural variation from candle to candle is part of what makes each one unique.

Why is my candle tunneling?

Tunneling happens when a candle isn't allowed to burn long enough for the melted wax to reach the edge of the vessel during the first few burns. Soy wax has a "memory," meaning it naturally follows the pattern created during those initial burns.

For the best experience, allow your candle to burn until a full melt pool reaches the edges of the vessel each time you light it.

How should I care for my candle?

For the best burn:

• Trim the wick to ¼ inch before each use.
• Burn for 2–4 hours at a time.
• Allow a full melt pool to form before extinguishing.
• Never burn for longer than 4 hours.
• Stop burning when approximately ½ inch of wax remains.

Are your candles blessed?

No. Our candles are not blessed or intended to replace sacramentals.

Rather, they are thoughtfully designed as beautiful reminders of the Catholic faith, inviting moments of peace, prayer, and reflection within the home.

Do you accept returns or exchanges?

Due to the handmade nature of our products, we do not accept returns or exchanges at this time.

My favorite candle is sold out. Will it return?
